Chung Chi Founders' Day Student Festival

In late October, Chung Chi College Founders’ Day is around the corner. In the early days, the College focused on laying the foundation upon its establishment in 1951. It was not until 1954 that the first anniversary celebration was held in Hop Yat Church on Hong Kong Island. Since then, celebrating the Founders’ Day has become a tradition enriched with more and more fabulous events. In 1966, Chung Chi Student Union organised the first Music Festival as part of the anniversary celebration. In 1974, it was renamed as the “Founders’ Day Music Festival”. To let students enjoy more wonderful extracurricular activities, the Anniversary Celebration Organising Committee renamed it again as the “Founders’ Day Student Festival” in 1978.

The Founders' Day Student Festival is a highly anticipated and prominent anniversary event. In the old days, the festival featured a broad array of activities, including sports competitions like round- campus run and tug-of-war, music performances such as group singing and mixed vocal competitions; intellectual activities like debates and current affairs quizzes; as well as the “Thousand People Feast” and carnival that brought the entire College community together. With the change of time, the Student Festival has been beefed up with some popular items such as group selfies, adventures, as well as detective and escape games, ensuring that students are overwhelmed with intense joy and pleasure.

Today, the Chung Chi College Founders' Day Student Festival has become the highlight of the College’s annual calendar. The members of the Organising Committee rack their brains for delivering a captivating gala. Meanwhile, the Student Union, along with students from various societies, wholeheartedly engage in organising various events, embodying the Chung Chi spirit of unity and solidarity.
