Hong Kong Heritage Conservation Policy

2025/26 1^st Term

Course Objectives:

The course features a series of field trips to local monuments, heritage conservation projects, and the study of intangible cultural heritage. Students are expected to analyse the visions and challenges of heritage conservation policy in Hong Kong. Students will have an opportunity of planning and guiding a local tour, as well as conducting research on Hong Kong heritage.

Language:

This course and the study trip involved will be conducted in Cantonese.

Eligibility:

Students in 2025/26:

-In the 2nd year of attendance or above (for students with a normative study period of 3 years or more)

-No constraints on study year (for students with a normative study period of 2 years, applicable to those admitted in 2023/24 and before)

17 April (Thu)	First pre-trip meeting with supervisor
9 – 21 June	Lectures, Guest Talks and Field Trips Submit Learning Log 1 & 2, and a guided tour prepared by participants
Mid-June to late August	1^st , 2^nd and 3^rd Consultation Submit topic, research proposal and the 1^st draft of the group report
Mid-September to later September	Class presentation and commentary Submit the outline and presentation info beforehand
End of September	Submit group report, individual reflective essay, and the intra-group evaluation form

Quota:

Application Method:

Each applicant shall provide a letter of interest explaining the reasons and expectations of joining the course in the online application, on which selection will be based.

Fee and Deposit:
Each participant shall pay a programme fee of HK$200 for taking part in the study trip, inclusive of field visits and transportation on certain dates.

A deposit of HK$500 is also required. It is refundable upon satisfactory completion of the study trip.
In an event of withdrawal, the fee and deposit made will all be forfeited.
