Philippines Community Service-Learning Programme

2025/26 Term 1

Objectives

To cultivate a sense of community service in Chung Chi students;
To provide students with opportunities to get in touch with different segments of society, broadening their horizons, and strengthening their critical thinking on social issues; and
To provide students with opportunities to further develop personal growth and enhance social skills through reflective journals, evaluation meetings, and discussions in seminars.

Eligibility

Students in 2025/26:

In 2nd year of attendance or above (Students with normative study period of 3 years or more)
No constraints on study year (for students with a normative study period of 2 years, applicable to those admitted in 2023/24 and before)

Themes of Service-Learning

To understand the Philippines in multiple aspects: history, culture, economy, education, environment, and ethnicity.
To foster cross-cultural understanding and global citizenship among students with a hands-on learning experience in an Asian context.
To enable students to contribute to community development through service activities and enhance their personal and professional growth through reflection and self-assessment.

18-31 May \| TBC	Service	Service-Learning activities in Dumaguete-understand, experience and implementation
August-September	Post-service	Presentation, group report, individual reflective essay, and intra-group evaluation form

Fee and Deposit

HKD$5,800 (excluding flight ticket) | Deposit of HKD$3,000 is refundable upon completion of programme; in case of withdrawal from the programme, the deposit will not be refunded. Participants can be reimbursed 50% of the airfare (maximum HK$2,500).

Date: 24 January (Friday)

Time: 5:30-6:30 pm

Venue: CK TSE Room (G/F) (Chung Chi Library)

The Briefing Session will be conducted in Cantonese.
