Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) has started the “Woodland YMCA” China Desert Service Programme since 2009 in response to the promotion of sustainable development by student-led education projects. This year, the College is cooperating with the YMCA to recruit students who are concerned about critical global challenges, such as climate change, desertification and waste reduction, to join our programme. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in real-life service activities in the Tengger Desert, Ningxia, while also exchange stories about environmental sustainability with global volunteers throughout the camp. Below please find more details of the Programme:

 

Programme Date: 22-28 July, 2025

Eligibility: Undergraduates from Chung Chi College aged 18-25

Quota: 18

Programme Language: Chinese

Fee: HK$5,000 + Deposit $1,000 (Inc. air tickets, meals, accommodation, transportation & miscellaneous, with YMCA Subsidy and College Subsidy)

Reminders:

  1. Participants who attended all pre-trip meetings, the China Desert Service Trip, the post-trip activities and fulfilled the requirements of the YMCA's "Be a Global Citizen" Campaign Gold Award with satisfactory performance will have their deposit fully refunded after the project.
  2. The program fee includes a subsidy from the College's FLY Award, and one quota for the student will be deducted.
  3. Participants who won the YMCA "Be a Global Citizen" Campaign Gold Award will receive an extra subsidy of $1,000.
