【Chinese Reading Club】The Wisdom of Life: Romance of the Three Kingdoms

The Chinese Language Enhancement Programmes: CC Chinese Reading Club will be held on 31^st March 2025 (Monday). The selected book is a Chinese historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Dr. MAN Ying Ha and Dr. LAI Pit Shun from Department of Chinese Language and Literature will share and discuss the characters and plots in the book on the topic “The Wisdom of Life: Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and selected chapters. The six selected chapters are as follows:

• Chapter 37: Sima Hui Recommends A Scholar To Liu Bei; Liu Bei Pays Three Visits To The Sleeping Dragon Ridge.
• Chapter 38: Zhuge Liang Plans For The Three Kingdoms; Sun Quan Attacks Xiakou To Take Revenges.
• Chapter 43: Zhuge Liang Disputes With The Southern Scholars; Lu Su Denounces The Majority Opinion.
• Chapter 57: Sleeping Dragon Mourns At Chaisang; Young Phoenix Intervenes At Leiyang.
• Chapter 62: Taking Of River Fu Pass, Yang Huai and Gao Pei Are Slain; Siege Of Luocheng, Huang Zhong and Wei Yan Rival.
• Chapter 85: The First Ruler Confides His Son To The Guardian's Care; Zhuge Liang Calmly Settles The Five Attacks.

In order to encourage students to read, registered full-time undergraduate students of Chung Chi College can collect the book from the University bookstore – The Commercial Press (101, 1/F, YIA) with the confirmation email, student ID card and receipt of deposit. Quota for free books is limited. First come, first serve. Refreshments are also provided during the Reading Club.
