On October 28, Yanki Ma (Yangqin) & Steinway Honorary Teacher Dr. Timothy Kwok (Piano) will bring you a unique program. The duo will perform Yanki Ma’s arrangements of Schubert’s ‘Ständchen’, from Schwanengesang, D. 957 & Vittorio Monti’s rhapsodical concert piece Csárdás. Also featured on the program are Gui Xili’s Phoenixes Flying in Pairs, and contemporary Turkish composer Fazil Say’s solo piano piece Black Earth (based on the Turkish folk song ‘Kara Toprak’).
On November 4, the NEXUS Ensemble will present a concert of “Love & Death”. Specialized in blending diverse Asian and Western cultural elements & musical instruments, three multi-talented members of the ensemble [Dr. Anthony Cheng (Composer & Founding Artistic Director), Yukio Chidori (Shakuhachi) & Tan Cong (Cello)] will perform original compositions and tunes from movies. Program includes Yukio Chidori’s Last Voyage & Autumn Romance, Ennio Morricone's Playing Love, as well as Dr. Anthony Cheng’s Extinction & Movie Medley (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon/ Titanic/ Departure/ Schindler's List).
