The semester is almost over! Amidst all the preparation for final exams & papers, carve out time for your body, mind and soul and listen to some fine music in Midday Oasis! On November 11, prize winner of The Shean Piano Competition & The Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition, Hong Kong-born Canadian pianist Dane Ko will perform for you Debussy's complete set of Images II (‘Cloches à travers les feuilles’, ‘Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut’ & ‘Poissons d’or’), Rameau’s ‘La Poule’ from Nouvelles suites de pièces de clavecin, as well as Ignaz Friedman’s two Viennese dances from Wiener Tänze nach Motiven von Eduard Gärtne. On November 18, Zhang Shuying* (Violin, Viola) from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, will share the stage with pianist Xinge Bu and bring you Fauré's Après un rêve & complete set of Dolly Suite, Op. 56, and also Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20. On November 25, Law Tsz Ying (Soprano) & Dominic Lam (Piano) will perform the complete Barber’s The Hermit Songs, Op. 29, a set of 10 medieval texts based on comments written on the margins of medieval manuscripts by Irish monks, as well as Herbert Johnson’s ‘I'm a Pilgrim’.
