Have you ever tried communicating with others in ways other than using your voice? Have you ever thought about how many deaf people in Hong Kong face communication challenges in their daily lives? By learning sign language and engaging in direct interaction, we can better understand the needs of our deaf friends and promote genuine inclusion and equal communication.
Therefore, the University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong specially organiseed the following two programmes. We warmly invite you to participate, step into the "world of silence” together, learn sign language, go camping with deaf friends and build friendships.
Sign Language Experience Course (4 sessions)
Content: Understanding the needs and difficulties of deaf people, techniques for communicating and interacting with deaf individuals, and learning basic sign language
Dates: 11, 18, 25 March and 1 April 2026 (every Wednesday)
Time: 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Venue: YMCA Mong Kok Holistic Development Centre

Deaf-Hearing Inclusive Camp (2 days 1 night)
Content: Camping, barbecuing, orienteering, and participating in camp activities together with deaf friends
Dates: 11-12 April 2026 (Saturday to Sunday)
Time: 1:30 pm on the first day to 2:30 pm on the second day
Venue: YMCA Wong Yi Chau Youth Camp
Assembly & Dismissal Point: Sai Kung Public Pier
Remarks: Participants must bring their own sleeping bag and sleeping mat
Fee: $120 + $200 deposit* (The fee includes activity costs, round-trip ferry tickets, and meals..)

Full-time local students aged 18-29 with valid University & College YMCA membership (CLICK HERE for membership application) are eligible to sign up for the above programmes.
